At Bournebrook, children in all year groups are provided with an engaging and challenging curriculum to ensure all children fulfill their potential.
Our curriculum is aimed at promoting spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development. We put emphasis on the teaching of skills, ideas and knowledge, preparing our children for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
In Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, children work to the National Curriculum. All classes are taught maths and English daily, with a focus on reading, writing, spelling, grammar and calculation.
A two-year rolling programme of topics is in place to ensure full coverage of other subjects (History, Geography, Science, RE, Languages, Art, Design and Technology and Music). Reflecting best practice, we work in a cross-curricular way linking subjects within a common theme. Computing is taught discreetly as well as through other subjects.
PE is an important part of our curriculum and at Bournebrook we encourage all children to be active every day, as part of our work on healthy lifestyles. PE lessons are supported by a specialist member of staff and an outside provider who works alongside our staff.
All copies of schemes of work and policies are available on request from the school office.
